Avon Metals is delighted to announce that Her Majesty The Queen, by recommendation from the Prime Minister, has honoured Avon Metals with The Queens Award for Enterprise 2007: International Trade. A Queens Award has been described as the equivalent of a ''Corporate Knighthood'' and is the highest accolade that a UK business unit can receive.
Avon Metals is a metals recycling company. Primary aluminium and other alloying elements are blended with high grade aluminium scraps and converted through a smelting process into advanced aluminium based alloys in ingot form. Our products are in turn converted into a very diverse range of every day products such as automotive engines and transmissions, aeroplane turbines and wings, white goods, architectural products & food foil trays.
Originally established in 1959, Avon Metals was acquired in 2001 by The Remet Co Limited and in the last 3 years the company's export earnings have doubled.
Over £500,000 has been invested to enhance productivity and protect the environment. ISO 14001 and Investors In People programmes are well underway and will be in operation during 2007.
Our markets are predominantly within the European Union but we are making rapid inroads into the Middle East, Far East, the Americas and Australasia.
Receiving this award is a tribute to the huge effort made by the current management and staff of Avon Metals following the major restructuring of the business and to share in this success we would like to thank our customers and suppliers worldwide for your continued support, contribution and association.
